SC's Drawing of Skully from Demons
Simeon Care is a UK writer, currently working as a marketing professional. He has been obsessed with stories for as long as he can remember, especially anything dark, fantastical or otherworldly.
His writing has appeared in Friday Flash Fiction, Black Petals Magazine, Blood Moon Rising Magazine, Nanoism and anthologies from Bag of Bones Press and Shacklebound Books.
Before he started writing or teaching, he earned his degree in Biblical Studies from the University of Sheffield. Later, he earned a PGCE from the University of East Anglia (otherwise known as the Avengers HQ).
Simeon found university difficult and later discovered that he is dyslexic. After developing strategies to cope, he had a much more successful experience during his teacher training. Still, he wasn't sure he could write a novel, despite planning one for years. He was delighted to prove himself wrong in July 2020.
His writing influences are broad but include Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman, Sir Terry Pratchett, Lewis Carroll, C.S Lewis, traditional tales, Greek myths and Bible stories. He gravitates towards writers who see the world in a unique way and stories that intersect magic with the real world. As someone who suffers from anxiety, he has a particular interest in writing and reading about anxious characters.
Simeon spends most of his free time with his wife and two children, playing and going for walks in the Norfolk countryside. He is an avid drummer, which he finds highly therapeutic.
Coffee is his only weakness.
